Heath was riding his rocking horse in the living room one evening. He asked his horse, "You hungry horsie?" then went strait outside (it was a nice evening so we had the front door open) and grabbed a big handful of grass to bring in and set in front of his horse. He was very proud of himself.
We have a cherry tree out in front of our house. The cherries aren't quite ripe yet, but Heath has eaten pretty much all of the ones within his reach. So there is a little ring around the tree that is bare.
The other day Houston was taking a nap, all of a sudden I heard a man's voice talking on the baby monitor. I went into his room and he had woken up and pulled the weather radio off our night stand and into his crib with him and was enjoying pushing all the buttons. Man was he sad when I took it away.
We were driving in the car and Heath said, "Cegan, look horsies!" It was the first time he's ever said my name, and it was really weird to hear him say it. I asked him who Cegan was and he answered with, "Mommy, look horsies!" I guess that was enough for him because I haven't heard him say it since.
Houston has started standing up to things. Heath was such a cautious baby, but not Houston. He is fearless. He'll just let go and go flopping backwards or try to reach for something way too far and crash. Needless to say he's a bit more of a challenge to watch during the day, and may have a few more bruises then normal.
Heath and Houston love to rub heads. They will sit close and put foreheads together and slowly shake their heads back and forth and back and forth, then pull apart and laugh, then do it again.
Heath loves to find as many cups as he can find at Grandma's house and fill them up on her fridge, then pass them out to whomever is willing to drink from them; Uncle John, Uncle Jim, Daddy, Grandpa, Mommy, Aunt Kayla, Uncle Dallin, Uncle Sterling. It's pretty cute to watch.
One morning last week Houston woke up and had a totally different personality. He's been irritable, cranky, hasn't been sleeping much at all,(especially at night, sad day for mommy) and loves to just out of no where scream bloody murder repetitively! His first tooth broke through yesterday, and let me tell you today he's like a totally new baby, back to his good old self! Its so nice to have him back! Hopefully all his teeth aren't this way.
Heath was playing with his toy phone:
"Hi Daddy... at work... Daddy go home.... Heath's house....mmmhuh.... Daddy make pancakes.....and applesauce.... mmmhuh.... otay....... bye"
Almost every Sunday Matt makes German Pancakes for breakfast and we put applesauce on top. I guess Heath was having a craving.
Houston absolutely loves Heath, he watches him and chases him and laughs at him all the time. Heath absolutely loves Houston, his new favorite thing is to lay next to Houston on the ground and burrow and roll into him. It doesn't look comfortable, but they both always laugh and laugh.
Heath hasn't been taking naps for the past month or so, but the last week he has. It's been so nice to have those couple hours to get things done again.
Houston's favorite activity during the day is crawling. He just crawls from the gate in the kitchen doorway to Heaths room over and over. He'll get to one end and sit for a few seconds looking around, then take off for the other and do the same thing there.
Heath loves all things weapon these days. Every toy he finds is in some way or another a bow or arrow, a sward, or a gun. He loves to stand at the window in the living room and shoot the "mywoodies" coyotes that apparently are allover outside our house.
We had one chicken left, but this weekend Matt decided it was time for it to go to chicken heaven because it was looking really sickly and had a nasty bum. It was pretty old and didn't lay anymore anyways. So he very discretely went out with his gun and took care of it, then burnt it along with our trash. When Heath went outside with him later that afternoon he said, "Daddy where's my chicken?" "Daddy shoot my chicken?" Now keep in mind we haven't talked about this at all, and I'm pretty sure he didn't see any happenings about it. It really caught Matt off guard. He just said yep, and that was that. When they came inside Heath kept telling me very matter of factly, "daddy shoot my chicken." "My chicken a mess" "My chicken gone" We were so impressed with his detective skills.
Now that its so hot we have our air conditioning running. Houston's favorite place to be is right on top of the vent while it's running. If it kicks on and he's across the room he will usually crawl as fast as he can to get there, then just let it blast his face, hair a'flying and everything.
For Mother's Day I got kisses and hugs all day from Heath, and a glorious, wonderful, long Sunday nap while Matt watched the boys. It was the best present ever!
